Some believe admission he has cancer evidence he'll try for presidency in '08 --
WASHINGTON - Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson's admission that he has cancer - but in remission - may be strong evidence that he intends to run for president, political experts said Wednesday.
"It seems to suggest that he understands if he runs ... he'll be under a great deal of scrutiny, and by disclosing this he is out in front of that scrutiny," said University of Tennessee political scientist Anthony Nownes. "So it may signal his desire to run."
